Overview

The legends and myths recorded by ancient Nordic skalds and poets can be confusing and difficult to understand. In Nordic Poems and Legends: Viking Myths for the Modern Age, each of these has been summarized and re-written to teach and explain the various stories, places, deities, and creatures in a way that is easy to learn and comprehend for all ages.

To further the knowledge of the ancients - the poems inside are duplicated. The first version uses the modern alphabet with the second being translated into Medieval Futhark, the Scandinavian runic alphabet used at the end of the Viking Age.

With the rising popularity of Vikings and Nordic gods, this book will give anyone the ability to become familiar with and knowledgeable about Nordic Mythology.

About the Author

Steve became interested in Norse Mythology through his fascination with Vikings and their culture. Learning the extent of their travels from their Scandinavian home then spreading throughout Europe, then to Western Asia, Northern Africa, and even to the Americas, they became more interesting to him with every new piece of information. This eventually led him down the path of learning about their beliefs, religion, and runic alphabet.

When Marvel released the Avengers and the corresponding Thor series, Steve quickly found many of his friends and family confused when talking about the topic. He couldn’t blame them – the Vikings were not known for their writing!

He began to research and connect the dots, teaching himself how to read the runes and translating from any old source he could find. Putting together this series of summarization poems is his attempt to share the confusing knowledge in a simple, fun way.

His next plans are to release a children’s book series telling the individual stories found in the ancient texts in a family friendly way, using the same stories the Vikings did to help teach children life lessons and right vs wrong.
