Author Biography: Antoine de Saint-Exup‚ry (1900-1944) was born in Lyons, France. A year after the publication of The Little Prince, Saint-Exup‚ry disappeared over the Mediterranean while flying a reconnaissance mission for his French air squadron. Best known throughout the world as the author and illustrator of The Little Prince, Saint-Exup‚ry wrote several other books that also have become classics of world literature.
Richard Howard is the author of eleven books of poetry, including Untitled Subjects, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1970, and most recently, Trappings. He is the translator of more than 150 works from the French and lives in New York City.

About the Author

Antoine De Saint-Exupéry. Recordado sobre todo por su libro El principito (1943). Obsesionado con el mundo de la aviación, Saint-Exupéry formó parte de los primeros servicios postales aéreos del mundo, convirtiéndose en uno de los pioneros de los primeros años de los aviones. Trabajó para la sociedad Aeropostale francesa, tanto en Europa como en las colonias africanas. Durante esta época escribe diversos cuentos y también la novela El aviador (1926) y Correo del Sur (1928). La obra de Saint-Exupéry es claramente de origen autobiográfico aunque salpicada de ficción. Sus novelas de aventuras tuvieron gran éxito en toda Europa. Durante su estancia en África sufrió un accidente y se perdió en el desierto. Posteriormente, esa experiencia se trasladaría a El principito, historia que escribió durante su estancia en Nueva York al principio de la II Guerra Mundial. El 1943 vuelve a incorporarse al ejército y combate hasta el 31 de Julio del 1944, momento en que su avión desaparece frente a las costas de Marsella por causas desconocidas. En 1994 se recuperaron partes de su avión y en 2008 un piloto alemán reconoció haber derribado el aparato de Saint Exupéry.
