Bithika, a young bank officer on probation, has been managing operations in a public sector bank that faces long queues of pension holders at the beginning of every month. A heavy rush during banking hours puts enormous strain on limited resources at the bank counters, which sometimes forces officials to adopt shortcuts on matters related to scrutiny and verification routines.
