Overview

"I Thrive Out of Spite" is a collection of poems based on the author's personal experiences over four years. Jasper covers his experiences as a disabled queer person, as well as the transition from a teenager to a young adult. Spanning two abusive relationships, multiple moves, a major surgery, and a suicide attempt, the content is dark, raw, and vulnerable, but has a message of hope and growth.

About the Author

Jasper is a young disabled, queer artist located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. They enjoy writing, painting, knitting, and learning. Their debut book, "I Thrive Out of Spite", is a collection of vulnerable, personal poems that they've been working on since they were sixteen. Navigating past trauma and chronic illness can be difficult, and Jasper finds comfort in making art from their experiences. They hope to give others in a similar position something to relate to, a feeling of hope and being "seen". Outside of creating things, they like to spend time with their cat, Magnus, and spend time in nature.
