Oscar Lohuis was born in Haarlem in the Netherlands in 1967 and grew up on the outskirts of that city, in Aerdenhout. During his teenage years, he came to living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. After earning his high school diploma in the college preparatory track, he spent a year studying the Bible at Continental Theological Seminary, an international school of the Assemblies of God in Brussels, Belgium. After that, he received a call from God while in the United States to dedicate his life to the preaching of the gospel. He then earned the degree of Bachelor in Bible and Theology (Brussels, Belgium, 1989), Master of Divinity (Tyndale Theological Seminary, Amsterdam, Netherland, 1992) and Master of Theology (Evangelical Theological Faculty, Leuven, Belgium, 2006).
From January 1995 through April 2001, Oscar was pastor of the Baptist congregation in Meppel. From May 2001 through December 2006, he was pastor of the Free Baptist congregation in Emmeloord. In January 2007, Good News Ministry was established, enabling Oscar to devote himself fully to the proclamation of God’s Word as an itinerant preacher and Bible teacher, and to writing. Since then he has held the position of (unsalaried) “Minister in Extraordinary Service” with the Alliance of Baptist and C&MA congregations in the Netherlands. Oscar has been married to Lois since 1991, and is the father of four children, Ruben, Lucas, David, and Maria. Since 2014 they have lived in Ermelo. They are still attached as missionaries to the Free Baptist congregation of Emmeloord, of which Oscar was previously pastor.
