Alice Munro (1931-2024) was a Canadian short story writer who transformed our understanding of what stories could do, achieving the kind of psychological depth once only believed possible in novels. She was the recipient of many awards and prizes, including the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature and the 2009 Man Booker International Prize. She is the author of 14 short story collections and is credited with revolutionizing the architecture of short stories.
