One of the best known Jewish novelists of the twentieth century, Bernard Malamud (1914-1986) won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for his 1966 novel, The Fixer, which was later adapted into a movie. His first novel, The Natural is widely considered one of his best works, and it was also adapted into a movie starring Robert Redford.
