Gary Soto is a Mexican-American poet, novelist, and essayist. Best known for his poetry that draws upon everyday experiences growing up in an urban, Spanish-speaking environment, Soto prides himself on writing relatable characters and dialogue. His second book of poems, The Tale of Sunlight, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
