Chapter One
ANGER
I will bridle my anger, trash my wrath, cool my pipes-it only makes things worse. -PSALM 37:8 (THE MESSAGE)
I follow the example of the Lord, who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness. -PSALM 103:8
I am slow to anger and have great understanding; I am not like he who is hasty of spirit, exposing and exalting his folly. -PROVERBS 14:29
I speak soft answers that turn away wrath, not grievous words that stir up anger. -PROVERBS 15:1.2
I am not a hot-tempered person who stirs up strife, but I am slow to anger, appeasing contention. -PROVERBS 15:18
Good sense makes me restrain my anger, and it is my glory to overlook a transgression or an offense. -PROVERBS 19:11
I am not quick in spirit to be angry or vexed, for anger and vexation lodge in the bosom of fools. -ECCLESIASTES 7:9
When I am angry, I do not sin or let my wrath (my exasperation, my fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. -EPHESIANS 4:26
I will let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from me, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
And I will become useful and helpful and kind to others, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving others [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave me. -EPHESIANS 4:31-32
Now I must get rid of all these things: anger, passion, and hateful feelings. No insults or obscene talk must ever come from my lips. -COLOSSIANS 3:8 (GNT)
I won't forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry; for anger doesn't make me good, as God demands that I must be. -JAMES 1:19-20 (TLB)
