Reader Jeff Woodman throws just enough of a Southwestern twang into his voice to make 15-year-old Tex the kind of down-home kid that teens can believe in. Woodman's delivery is high spirited and energetic. It bounces all over the emotional spectrum, like Tex's horse and his wild imagination. Tex himself, being 15 and angry at his brother for selling his horse to pay the bills, and in love with the cutest girl in school, and wondering if his father cares about him, is pretty daring, maybe even foolish. Though this lands him in a lot of trouble at school, it also helps him grow and put things in perspective. After scaring everyone to death and landing in a hospital to boot, he and we are a little closer to some answers. P.E.F. © AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine
