Overview

In this book, I wanted to share what a typical day was like working with a client on a ventilator. This book is kid friendly and would be a great book to read to your pediatric clients and their families. " The character "Supervent" was created by me. I wanted to show a softer and more heroic side to a ventilator for pediatric clients.
This book was made to show people some of the misconceptions regarding how patients live their life's on a ventilator. I want this book to be an educational opportunity for patients, families, friends, teachers, and health care workers to teach others about patient's who have to be on a ventilator and to not be afraid of the patient or machine. This book can be the start of a good positive open discussion for people who have questions regarding the daily life's of patient's on a ventilator.

About the Author

My name is Lacretia Snail and I have been a nurse for over 10 years. I love being a nurse and wanted to share a typical day working with a client that's ventilator dependent. I couldn't include everything but I tried to highlight the things that I felt that could apply to the majority of patients with ventilators. Working with a client on a ventilator was not an easy task in the beginning, but luckily, I had a wonderful nurse name Patricia who took the time out to train me properly and was always there to call on when I had any questions. I was able to use that knowledge and hands on skills that I was taught to be a great nurse to a little boy name Fuad. He was my first full time pediatric client who was on a ventilator. While working with Fuad, I had so many great teachable moments with him and his family which turned out to help me grow as a nurse in my career. This is my first book and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
