This adventurous story takes the young reader through the patent process in a very concrete manner. It also demonstrates the special grandma/grandson relationship and the making of memories through real life experiences. My second grade class loved not only the story and illustrations, but also the combination of humor and excitement.

This book is a great example of a storybook that teaches while it entertains ... it is a good place to start if you and your child have an idea for an invention and wondered how to go about protecting your idea with a patent! While the youngest of children will be entertained by the humorous story of a boy and his grandmother (and their beagle, Mindy), the older elementary age child will learn about the process of obtaining a patent (and what that means) for their own ideas/inventions!
