This dictionary that breaks new ground in the lexicography of Filipino is monolingual for use by native and second-language speakers (not learners) and is based on contemporary language use of Filipino through its choice of texts for frequency count and concordance purposes. It is an initial attempt using the specific methodology described and is meant to be a prototype, hopefully to be followed by an expanded dictionary of additional entries as the Filipino language develops and intellectualizes further.
