Purpose: The purpose is to educate practicing clinicians and geneticists in cardiovascular disease about the significant role genetics and genomics play in cardiovascular disease risk. The rapid pace of advances in molecular genetics over the past 20 years has resulted in a large population of clinicians whose education did not include this topic.
Audience: This book is written for practicing clinicians as well as molecular and medical geneticists and genetic epidemiologists in cardiovascular disease. For clinicians, this book will be foundational in careers that will certainly see advances in medical genomics and its clinical application. For researchers in medical genomics and genetic epidemiology, this will provide the groundwork for an evolving and dynamic field of investigation.
