About the Author

Dr. Chap Attwell studied history as an undergraduate at Rice University; completed his master’s degree in public health at the University of Texas School of Public Health; and studied medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, all in Houston, Texas. He moved to New York City in 1997 to train in psychiatry at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital, where he still teaches in the Department of Psychiatry and works as the co-director of medical student mental health at the NYU School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Attwell has completed his adult psychoanalytic training at NYU Psychoanalytic Institute at NYU Medical Center, where he also continues to study as a senior candidate in the child psychoanalytic program. He holds the title of Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and primarily pursues his passion for psychiatry and psychoanalysis in his private practice in New York City, where he also lives.
