Overview

This 8500 word short story takes place about three months after Echoes of Fire. Elisabeth, plagued by nightmares, must face a new challenge as her guardian Julian plans Elisabeth's 16th birthday party. As hard as she believes it will be to get through a party with her rich, privileged classmates, Elisabeth knows her real test will be watching Alexei dancing with another girl. But the danger Elisabeth faces might not be just to her heart because someone still wants her dead.

Laurel McKinley grew up in a small central Kentucky town where she spent most of her time reading, writing her own stories, and watching University of Kentucky basketball games. After graduating from Midway College with a BA in English, she attended Spalding University’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program. Capitalizing on her love of books, Laurel works at the public library in her hometown. Echoes of Fire is her debut novel and the first in the Echoes trilogy.
