1963-1964 Philadelphia 76ers

The Syracuse Nationals NBA team moved to Philadelphia in 1963,, becoming the Philadelphia 76ers.. The Philadelphia Warriors moved to the west coast, becoming the San Francisco Warriors. My e-book looks at the first year of the 76ers with old pro Dolph Schayes, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, as player-coach. Schayes comments about his team are interspersed with game summaries, player descriptions and statistics. This was an era when National Basketball Association games were played on consecutive days with the players often getting little rest in between. The small crowds attending the games are noteworthy, especially when compared to the masses of fans drawn by the NBA of today.
