2021...The year Earth was thrown back into the dark ages, unplugged in the blink of an eye. With the darkness came the wraiths, emerging from the underworld to swarm the surface at night. Hunting without mercy during the hours of darkness they feast on the very souls of the humans that they seek to eliminate from the world.
Carl, an aging army veteran, has been given the power of light, the ability to fight back. Drawn to fulfill his destiny he risks everything as he steps out from behind the security of the walls he's built. Taking up his backpack and walking stick he strikes out in search for those along his path like himself to join in the fight. His dream to gather an army of light bearers to save those precious few souls that yet cling to life the hope that drives him forward.

About the Author

When I started writing “2021” I had no idea where the story would take me. Carl’s story came to me in a dream several years ago. The opening scene of this book is what I wrote down that morning. I am known to dream a lot, and remember many of them, but this one seemed somehow more important.
I've been busy writing the Kings of Pendar series and left this on the back burner until now, so finishing this book one was a journey that was years in the making. However, every year that went by has added to my experiences. Like everyone there were some good and some bad, but I realize that they all impact our lives and make us who we are today and I try to draw from those emotions to enrich the stories I tell.
It was fun taking a break after writing the first three books in The Kings of Pendar series to write something a little different, but I’m looking forward to getting the fourth book underway. The creative process is just so much fun. Even though balancing family, work, writing, and trying to keep active with running and cycling can be trying sometimes it’s worth the extra effort.
I’m blessed with a daughter in graduate school and a teenage son in baseball so my wife and I are busy just trying to keep up with them. In spite, or maybe because, of our busy schedule we’ve added a travel trailer into the mix so we can get out and see the country together. We’ve even used it for a couple of weekend festival book signing events and I can’t wait to do more of those when I’m able to forego the day job and pursue my passion full time.
