Rae's new book is "25 Stylish Knitted Slippers". There are slippers for men, women and children from everyday to character and knit to felt. The book has a chapter on felted slippers, fun and fantasy, everyday and boots. The last chapters show you step by step, written and in photographs, how-to techniques and tutorials. If you are a new knitter, you can also read about yarn, gauge, abbreviations, sizing, reading charts... If the pattern requires a graph, the are over-sized and easy to see. 'Beatrix' is a cute pair of bunny slippers, traditional and sure to be loved. The 'Moccasin' slipper looks good enough to be worn outside. Read up on the section about adding soles and wear them out to the mailbox. Do you remember 'Mary Jane' shoes? Knit up the shoe and sock (all in one), for yourself and a little one. Slippers are a relatively quick project to knit and many can be knit from your yarn stash. They make a nice gift. Whether it is a practical or whimsical slipper you prefer, you can find it here. Rae Blackledge’s book of 25 slipper patterns is full of fresh ideas including felted styles (my personal favorite because of their warmth and cushy feel), socks, boots and slippers that look like shoes—even two-tone Oxfords. The toughest task will be to choose who will receive which design or whether to keep them all for myself.
