Overview

The prologue is set in 1982. Captain Christopher Laser BEEM is a sniper in the Falklands campaign. During the final days of the conflict, he is ordered to kill the Argentinian General leading the invasion started on the 2nd of April 1982. This action ends the war on 14th June 1982. The General was accompanied by his 14-year-old pregnant daughter, who then is raped, tortured, and disfigured by his defeated and disgraced army.
30 years later in 2012, CHRIS BEEM (57) lives in Lincoln with his wife SOPHIE (48) and daughter MATILDA (12). Whilst out running on the morning of the 2nd of April 2012, he comes across a rucksack. After examining the content, he decides to take it home.
The Rucksack contains £350,000 in cash, a handgun and six black and white photographs of individuals. Two days later and still in possession of the much-needed money, he receives a hand-delivered letter by a WWF look-a-like postman: one of ten Bosnian war veteran goons.
The letter is entitled 'Your Kill List.'
While investigating, Chris comes face to face with LUCIA MARIA DOMINGO (45) via an HD Video link. She is given the Nick Name (MB). She is the General's daughter; a fact Chris is unaware of. Lucia seems unhinged, and her appearance along with her demands make her look mad. She tells Chris he must kill the whole list before the 14th of June without telling him why and threatens his family. She had provided the rucksack. Chris soon gets a very bloody visual warning and hides his family in Cornwall.
The 'Kill List' contains six names: a builder, a policeman, a chef, a priest, a civil servant and a female teacher.
A short time later, his wife and daughter are kidnapped by Lucia from their houseboat in Cornwall.
Chris seeks help from former comrades in arms. In a twist he does not kill anyone but instead buys a modified sniper's rifle, which shoots electrical charges just like a taser, with realistic blood capsules, as he pretends to kill the people on the list whilst continuing his desperate quest to find his family. He sends MB video evidence that he is assassinating Lucia's list, as demanded. One of his accomplices is SKETCHLEY (56), who is his 2IC. Sketchley keeps the people unharmed and under lock and key at an abandoned RAF base.
The 'tame' police are recruited to help find MB. They include DCC FREDDY, a former marine, and ADC NICKY, along with several accomplices all former servicemen.
It transpires the kill list is an active paedophile ring, much later you find a second motivator the paedophile ring killed Lucia's daughter CATALINA in another twist, by her father, the General, at 12 years old in 1995.
Lucia mentally tortures Chris's family along with Juanita, her servant, and hides them in a purpose-built steel London prison.
All his and the entire team efforts to save them seem futile, meaning his life, like hers, is destroyed.
Chris, with the invaluable help of Sketchley, eventually captures the whole paedophile ring. He dashes to London with Sketchley to join Fido in a frantic search of the house occupied by Lucia.

About the Author

Nick became an Author after retiring from Management Consulting a role he performed for 33 years. Prior to that Nick spent 10 years in the Royal Marines servicing in 42 Commando.

Nick has had a lifelong appetite to write. It wasn’t until in 2008 whilst training for the London Marathon that a story formed in his head and stuck there, so he started to slowly capture the mental images created during those long and lonely runs.

Nick eventually finished the novel and with the help of ‘Jericho Writers’ who had it professionally edited and after many iterations and a final inline edit it was finished, it was picked up for publication by Olympia publishers who have done a fantastic job bringing the story to market.

The resulting novel showed its strength in its story through the narrative and its Characters itself, not perfect prose. The novel has an easy-to-read distinctive style with strong short sentences and neat compact chapters, which encourage the reader to enjoy its twists and turns along the way, right up to its exciting conclusion.

The main characters all have very strong military backgrounds which demonstrates to the reader that they have the capabilities and necessary ‘esprit de corps’ to achieve the challenges contained within the absorbing plot.

In brief: Nick has created a fast-paced narrative driven easy to read book with some unique plot twists, right up until its satisfying conclusion.
