Writer and poet Eugene Peterson translates and interprets, often loosely, the Psalms and Proverbs. They’re organized into 31 groups, after Billy Graham’s practice of daily reading from these Books. The decidedly contemporary language may offend King James traditionalists and sound refreshingly accessible to others. The problem with this otherwise well-produced audio is the narration by Kelly Ryan Dolan, who sounds like an overzealous youth minister talking to uninterested teenagers. The writing is also overwrought, using language that condescends to listeners rather than speaking to them with wisdom and respect. T.W. © AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
