Overview

All tasty and super affordable, the (mostly) easy recipes in this cookbook can help even the most pinched budget. Everything from party food (just like take-out "egg" rolls, fried rice, and pot stickers) to comfort food (cornbread, pancakes, and mac and "cheese") is included here, less expensive than take out or frozen. Relying heavily on staples and local, in season, cheap vegetables, these recipes use many ingredients commonly found in food storage plans, as well as on the bargain racks at grocery stores. And while nearly everything is written without animal products (which tend to go bad just when you need them most) most recipes suggest ways to add them back in, as personal preference and budget allow.

About the Author

Jennifer is a broke, food-loving, globe-trekking blogger. When she's not arguing bribes with border officials or hunting down WiFi in remote Central American villages she can be found writing about food on her 365 Dollar Year blog. Her goal with cooking is to show the world that good food doesn't have to cost a lot, and that it's entirely possible to eat great food on a super-tight budget.
