5 Elements for Success Business
5 Elements Overview
This book holds the answers to many questions encountered by the novice entrepreneur and veteran business owner alike. These answers, in my humble opinion, provide the basis for success in business, regardless of the nature of your business.
We each get into business for our own reasons, from personal likes to endeavors to change the world, all without credence to the body of knowledge necessary to run a successful business. We enter the business world armed with little consideration and homage to the forefathers who have paved the way with their own hardships and failures, the same hardships and failures you will most likely face during your business efforts. Times and circumstances may have changed and the tools available to the new businessperson are vast, but the same concerns exist, “How do I grow a business to survive the times and yet have it yield the security and future I desire?” After all, it’s not a job we’re creating for ourselves, it’s our legacy.
Coming up with business elements obviously was not a major, new concept. After all we have attached names and titles to every business aspect for years. The real challenge was narrowing down the elements to a manageable few that encompassed the true spirit and primary functions of business. Finding these elements, I call “key” elements, created the process and concept of the “5 Elements for Successful Business.”
These key elements, which are the core and basis for survival, growth and stability must be addressed. They were generated in a sequence that holds no significant importance. Any one of the five could have been first or last, how they interconnect while work independently is what is important. They must all work in unison, supporting each other and pulling the company efforts together, creating a cohesive, vibrant organization. The elements I am talking about are common terms, but addressed somewhat differently in my approach. Accounting, Human Resource, Marketing, Business Management and Personal Excellence constitutes the five elements. As you see, they are the fundamentals of business. Now, how do you work them in the small business setting? That’s the 5 Elements For Successful Business program.
Let me briefly discuss the five elements, how I see them and how they will be addressed in this book. My approach may be somewhat unorthodox, but I’ll guarantee you that the application is true and just.
With accounting I discuss it in terms of “non” financial information, that which is not crucial to your profit and loss statement or balance sheet. This data creates the information necessary for controlling your processes and programs.
I treat Human Resources with the same one sided view. It’s all about the right people, not quantity but quality.
Marketing is one of the most misunderstood dimensions of business for the beginning business entrepreneur and holds somewhat of a mystique for the experienced. We consistently confuse marketing with sales. I take a strong stand on this issue and work you through the dilemmas.
Now, Business Management should be an area that is easy to grasp, right? After all, there are a myriad of books to choose from and hundreds of theories. Unfortunately, they do no offer much help on the day to day operations. Well! I try to bring the practice into a cognitive format that meets your needs and helps you grasp the importance. Again, basic steps for basic results, then your free to fly.
Personal excellence is something that has been around along time with recent resurgence with popular authorities like Dr. Stephen R. Covey. Today there are hundreds of classes and products to help organize and compartmentalize your life. My approach is taking it one step further, or should I say weeding out what you don’t want. Regardless, I do agree that you should constantly improve yourself just as you do the processes of your company. It’s called refinement, controlling your time and performance, mixing personal and business or maybe just realizing that there is life after business.
As a business owner, it is up to you to temper the usage of these key elements to meet your goals and capitalize on your “purpose or passion”. Realizing, no man is an island but, a member of a unique and exclusive team, a team you call your business.
