About the Author

Joanne Hixson is an award-winning graphic designer and co-owner of Fusion Creative, a strategic communications agency. Before opening her own firm, she spent a number of years working in creative marketing and magazine publishing.

Joanne discovered a love of drawing and illustrating at a very young age and was inspired to create “Joanimals” after the birth of her son. She decided to bring these characters to life in A Bunny’s Tale and A Bear’s Tale. A Bear’s Tale, Joanne’s first book for Archway Publishing, tells the story of a baby bear who wants to be something he is not: a giraffe, an elephant, a pig, a mouse, a bird and a fish, but his mother reassures him that he’s perfect just the way he is.

Joanne is a native Texan and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Creative Advertising. She enjoys painting, fine arts, scuba diving, jewelry making and always finds the time to travel to exotic locales each year. Joanne lives in Jersey City with her husband Peter, son Lukas and Doodles the cat.
