Topics covered are general physical and dietary basics plus habitat, calls, range maps, nests, and young. Bird-watching supply lists are included in Chickadees and Robins. Various activities, such as setting up bird feeders, are described in several titles. Readers will find a recipe for suet in Blue Jays, and Goldfinches mentions preferred backyard plants. The photos are bright and clear and mostly correspond directly to the text. VERDICT This series could provide just the right amount of motivation to fledgling bird-watchers.
