Description: This book covers various topics in the field of endocrinology, structured around case discussions. Case discussions cover the initial clinical presentation, important diagnostic signs, lab testing specific to the diagnosis, and imaging tools that can help rule in or rule out the condition. For each disease/gland, the book covers the most common endocrinopathies seen and how to systematically approach these disorders. In addition, the book has great illustrations that make the learning process easier and help readers better understand the topics. Radiographic images are especially detailed.
Purpose: The purpose of the book is to serve as a learning tool for practicing endocrinologists to learn about different endocrinopathies in more detail.
Audience: This book is written for endocrinologists who are currently practicing or are in training. It meets the needs of its target audience very well. The different authors who have written various chapters are pioneers in their field.
Features: The best part of the book is the case-based approach to every topic, which makes the learning process much simpler. In addition, the radiographic imaging is very high quality and will be a useful tool for many endocrinologists who lack expertise in interpreting radiological images.
Assessment: This is an excellent book for practicing endocrinologists and those in training. It covers all relevant topics very well and leaves readers with a greater understanding of the disease pathology. I particularly liked the chapters discussing primary hyperparathyroidism and sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism with germline mutation.
