About the Author

Leanna Renee Hieber helped create the gaslamp fantasy subgenre with her first novel, The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker, which won two Prism Awards for RWA's Fantasy, Futuristic, & Paranormal Chapter. A talented actress and singer who has been seen on stage and screen (proud member AEA, SAG-AFTRA), Hieber can also sometimes be spotted leading ghost tours in Manhattan. Her first YA novel, Darker Still was a Scholastic Highly Recommended Title, an INDIE NEXT selection, and a finalist for the Daphne du Maurier Award. Yes, it's an adorable take on "A Christmas Carol" and what better time to read such a sweet tale. And, in this case, the ending does surprise, with a little added *something* that I didn't see coming.

Author Leanna Renee Hieber doesn't fail to impress with her beautiful imagery, her emotional intensity, her clever wit, and deeply touching and inspiring message. This narration left me in reverie, reflecting on life, and inspired a different perspective in a world of light vs. darkness.

Hieber has a talent for making the eerily supernatural a perfectly normal phenomenon. Reading her words, it is not unreasonable to imagine that one could look up from the turn of a page to see a Victorian ghost come gliding through a wall. The language, like the previous volumes, is lovely and ephemeral and obviously carefully chosen to evoke the time period in question. ...A Christmas Carroll is a must-read episode, and probably my favorite in the Strangely Beautiful universe.
