I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for holiday themed stories – though often they sucker me in and leave me with a sour taste in my mouth. That wasn't the case for Beth Barany's A Christmas Fling: A Magical Tale of Romance and Adventure. At first I was a little concerned as to whether or not this story would fall into the same old, same old, trappings of so many others – girl meets boy; boy and girl fall in love, but can't be together...

A lovely sweet story that shows how true love can overcome all things including the difference between one of Santa's elves and a high powered businessman, bought together by a dog but kept together through love. The characters are well crafted and we like Dahlia from the beginning and Liam too, although he has to get his act together to recognise what is important in life. This is a Christmas story where elves have sparkly magic and a man in love doesn't care about pointy ears.

It's always a treat when I can fall in love with the characters from their earliest introduction. Dahlia and Liam have sparks immediately, but both are so consumed by career pursuits that neither is willing to admit their arrangement is anything more than just a Christmas fling, contrived with the sole purpose of boosting Liam's promotion. And maybe getting back at that jerk who's trying to steal it - and the ex-girlfriend who's now engaged to that jerk.

This story is a delightful sweet romance between one of Santa's elf's and a man who thinks he wants to climb the corporate ladder of success. I had to keep reading far into the night just to see the budding romance between Dahila and Liam. I think you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
