Overview

What if science proved the existence of life after death—and did something about it?

A mathematician. A robotics engineer. An aspiring astronaut. Bram Morrison is all of these. What he can’t imagine he’ll ever be is someone trying to figure out the physics of a ghost. That is, until a workmate dies.

Bram’s botanist friend, Torula, claims that her lab equipment has gathered data proving her greenhouse is haunted. She suspects it has something to do with his recently deceased friend. Now, she plans to extend her study of life into the afterlife.

He wants to take the next big leap for mankind. She wants to delve into what ought to be dead and buried. How the two end up reconciling both ambitions leads to a scientific foray into the afterlife involving NASA, a computer disc, and a tragic dance with death.

A Ghost for a Clue, the first book in the IMMORTOLOGY series, is in a bold new genre called Psi-fi & Phantasy—a rare mix of scientific facts and supernatural lore that gives a realistically chilling look behind death’s door.

About the Author

C.L.R. Draeco is a writer, university professor, and advertising executive whose childhood home burnt down from an electrical fire in the 1970s. After the house was rebuilt, visitors began to suggest that the house was haunted. The Draeco family didn't believe it at first, until slowly, they began experiencing anomalies themselves. Those experiences were what inspired the author to explore scientific explanations for such phenomena, eventually spawning the hard science-fiction book series Immortology. Defining its genre was an initial challenge. Intended squarely as science fiction, and not fantasy, the story wove in true-to-life paranormal anecdotes encountered by C.L.R. Draeco from friends and family. This led to the story spilling outside the genre's accepted borders. Ghosts and immortal souls simply could not be classified as scientific and technological possibilities. And yet, that was exactly what the series aimed to do: to paint a world where an afterlife is plausible with the help of science. Bringing together hard science-fiction and psychic phenomena and phantoms, the series set out to carve a new niche called Psi-Fi & Phantasy. Draeco is married to a photojournalist who travels the world. Their two "kids" are now a Doctor of Medicine while the other is studying to be a Doctor of Psychology. They share their home with two dogs, four cats, a few fish, a bearded dragon, and no ghosts.
