A Halloween Story takes place in a nameless neighborhood that's fighting hard to hold its own. 10-year-old Linda is followed in equal parts by 8-year-old Street Urchin and timeless, mystical, Grandma Roads. Their kindness to Street Urchin is repaid in a way that gives this story its bitter-sweet ending. The flavor of this story is enhanced when read aloud, preferably to children of all ages.

I’m Ethelle Gladden, and I live in Ojai, California. I’m a family matriarch of sorts, with my family consisting of a niece, two nephews and four cats — everybody else is strewn along the east coast. I drove to California in 1988 and found my way to Ojai in 1993. My career in writing children’s picture books was launched in 2010.
