Overview

Feeling charitable? Well through Valentine's Day, February 14, 2014, 100% of the royalties from the sale of this book will be donated to charities supporting women and children, after which 50% of the same will continue to be donated to charity in perpetuity. Why do such a thing? Because this book and its subject matter demand it. After all, it is A Hollywood Legend … and the trilogy must continue.

Upon her release from jail on what police refer to as a technicality, Jessica Mullaney, the author of A Hollywood Legend … Stalker, now infamous due to her conviction for murdering her husband and child and casting their dismembered remains into a Seabrook Island, South Carolina, marsh, returns home, where she willingly accepts her life as a pariah in the small southern city of Rock Hill, South Carolina. However, even completely renovating her old home can’t distract Jessica from her painful memories or her fears over the fate of her still missing son. Following the lead of her plucky friend, Gail, who is running from her own demons, Jessica departs for a fresh life in Los Angeles, where far more flamboyant characters seek out the spotlight and Jessica and Gail hope to settle into peaceful anonymity.

Will Wilde, not surprisingly, takes exception to Jessica’s choice of venues. He not only issues a scathing press release attesting that he believes her still to be a murderess, but also hires a private investigator to delve into Jessica’s past. Meanwhile, his brother, Rico Wilde, can’t help but be fascinated by Jessica Mullaney, particularly after eavesdropping on an amusing turned heart-wrenching conversation one night between two women who he later learns are his brother’s supposed stalker, Jessica Mullaney, and her feisty friend, Gail. However, Rico’s revelations based on his eavesdropping pale in comparison with the private investigator’s report which uncovers Jessica’s tortured childhood. The unsettling news causes Will to feel fear for the woman he sees as a threat but Rico feels compassion and divines to find out the truth about this woman, who slowly becomes his obsession.

Ultimately, Jessica’s past, present and future are due to collide, big time. The question is … who will be targeted this time and, more importantly, who will survive?

About the Author

Mark Twain once wrote, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn't." He was so, so right. Much of the fiction that I write, especially the most shockingly unbelievable parts, is sadly non-fictional. And, while I can't claim to be in the same muckraker league as Upton Sinclair, I aspire to be.

Why? How about these three quotes:

Edmund Burke -- "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Confucius -- "To see what is right and not to do it is want of courage, or of principle."

Noel Coward -- "It is discouraging how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit."

Yeah, I admit that I have a bit of anti-establishmentarianism in me despite my conservative nature and my wish to remain in quiet anonymity.

As for my writing career, I've written a lot of public domain documents, so I can convey information/a story. But, writing fiction truly was a life's goal, #10 on my bucket list in fact.

I began writing the first novel in A Hollywood Legend Trilogy in 2009 as a cathartic release of sorts. Four years later, and two more books and numerous revisions, I am finally publishing the series. Yippee!

It is going to be tough to leave behind the characters from this series, as I have grown very attached to them. But a new chapter of my life is now beginning, which involves tackling some seriously inexcusable injustices in our country today along with a lot of unpaid volunteerism. But, it will be a labor of love.

I hope that I can depend on the readership of the Smashwords community to support my vision through the purchase of my books, as 50-100% of the royalties from A Hollywood Legend (depending on which book) are donated to charities supporting the less fortunate.

And, my future novels (two already in the works) will likewise earmark 50% at least to charity. And, I challenge my fellow indie authors to consider doing the same. Double your price and give half away to charity ... simple as that.

Great fiction mimics the truth in ways that make us question our ideologies and reach beyond ourselves. Writing this series of books has changed my life. As a reader of the Hollywood Legend Trilogy, I hope you experience the same.

See you in the trenches ...
