About the Author

Sheila Williams embarked on her journey into the world of accounting and financial reporting at the age of 22. She took the first step by enrolling in an accouting program at Bryant & Stratton, a trade school. After successfully completing the program, Sheila launched her career in accounting, starting from an entry-level postion as an accounts payable clerk and gradually progressing through various aspects of the field, including roles in accounts receivable, payroll, and eventually full charge bookkeeping. Acknowledging the value of lifelong learning, Sheila was committed to expanding her educational horizons. She obtained her associate degree at Triton College and continued her academic journey at Dominican university, where she successfully obtained her bachelor's degree in accounting. However, Sheila's quest for knowledge and expertise didn't conclude there. She further pursued her academic and professional development by earning a master's degree in forensic accounting. Sheila also completed rigorous testing to receive certifications as an Enrolled Agen (EA), establishing her expertise in taxation, and as a certified forensic accountant. Throughout her professional journey, Sheila held diverse managerial positions, progressing from a staff accountant to a senior accountant before taking on pivotal roles as a controller and later as a chief financial officer. In 2015, she made a significant career shift by leaving the corporate world and founding her own accounting firm. This transformation allowed her to deepen her passion for accounting and work closely with a wide range of businesses spanning various industries. During her tenure working with numerous CPA firms, Sheila identified recurring issues that affected businesses of different sizes. She observed that many business owners, irrespective of their enterprise's scale, grappled with a fundamental understanding of the financial aspects of their operations. While their love for their chosen ventures and products or services was evident, a comprehensive grasp of how their financial decisions and spending habits influenced their businesses often eluded them. Consequently, they frequently found themselves disheartened as their businesses struggled to thrive.
