Overview

Step through the foggy alleyways of 1840's London into "A Miser's Repose," a novel that delves into the very soul of Ebenezer Scrooge. Known throughout the city for his penny-pinching ways and a heart as frosty as a Christmas Eve snowfall, Scrooge's life is a testament to solitude and avarice. But when the tolling of a spectral bell breaks the silence of his lonely abode, Scrooge is thrust into a journey of introspection and ethereal encounters that challenge the very fabric of his existence.

Author John Castle reawakens the timeless tale with a fresh and compelling narrative, rich with Victorian charm and a modern resonance that speaks to every reader's longing for second chances. Through a series of spectral visitations, Scrooge confronts the phantoms of his past mistakes, the stark reality of his present disconnect, and the grim future that awaits should he continue down his path of isolation.

As the Ghost of Christmas Past illuminates scenes of youthful hope and crushing choices, Scrooge is forced to reckon with the moments that sculpted his life's tragic course. The Ghost of Christmas Present unveils the warmth and struggles of those around him, the lives he's touched with his cold indifference, and the joy he's denied himself. And the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come? It presents a future as barren as Scrooge's own heart—unless he can embrace the spirit of the season and change his miserly ways.

"A Miser's Repose" isn't merely a retelling of a holiday classic—it's a narrative mosaic that captures the struggle between the pursuit of wealth and the richness of the human experience. Castle weaves a tale that explores the depths of regret and the peaks of redemption, drawing readers into a profound contemplation of their own lives.

With prose as captivating as the Christmas spirit itself, this novel paints a picture of life in its fullest measure—the sorrowful lows, the heartwarming highs, and the universal quest for purpose and connection. The transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge unfolds with an authenticity that honors its source material while breathing new life into its pages, making it relevant to the contemporary soul seeking renewal.

In this touching story of transformation, readers will find themselves rooting for Scrooge as he teeters on the brink of salvation or doom. John Castle invites us all to reflect on the chains we forge in life and offers up the comforting glow of hope—that it is never too late to break free and find our way back to the joys of human kindness and compassion.

Embrace the chance to rediscover a classic, to wander the snowy streets of reflection and redemption, and to witness the rebirth of a heart once lost to the cold grasp of gold. "A Miser's Repose" is a tale for the ages, a beacon of hope in a world that still, desperately, needs to believe in the miracle of change.

About the Author

My life in a nut shell?
I've not always been well.
In fact, my story I must tell.
I must be careful, lest my head swell.

I am a humble man, and not easily scared. I get along with most people, no matter their way of life; big and small, young and old, healthy and handicapped, wealthy and poor, people with desirable lifestyle and those without.

I got my writing start in the hospital to pass the time. My first set of stories were called the "Time Machine Series". I add to it from time to time. It began with childhood fantasies. Later on I began to use bits of history.

I am now a filmmaker and enjoy the art of storytelling.

There's not to much to say about my amazing and supportive wife Sharron Castle. She has been with me through the hardest of times and has been a helping hand in the best of times. She helped with Proofreading and keeping my spirits high throughout this journey.
