Editorial Reviews

Christian Book Previews.com

If you have a love for historical fiction, get this book! When I finished reading it I was inspired and encouraged to appreciate the little things in life, taking nothing for granted. Life is never easy, but it's worth the glorious journey and we come out of our hard times stronger and wiser, realizing how God was and is with us every step of the way.

"A very well written return to the Red River series, I was easily able to place myself in 1900 North Dakota. The attention to detail and extensive research gave this reader a wonderful sense of time and place. The trials and tribulations of farming and living off the land, the discovering of their faith and living within that faith are aptly portrayed. The cast of characters were well rounded, interesting, and realistic as well. "

Snelling creates some good word-pictures, as in a scene where a mother gives a toddler a piece of candy, then reaps the sticky consequences. The main characters are well developed, and I didn't feel the lack of not having read the original series. (B.J. Sedlock, Historical Novels Review)
