About the Author

Mr. Vikas Kumar is a doing Ph.D Forestry (Agroforesty) in college of Forestry, vellanikkara under the Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur (Kerala)- 680656. He graduated from college of Forestry, Ponnampet under the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (Karnataka) and Post graduated from ASPEE college of Horticulture and Forestry under the Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari (Gujarat). He worked as Junior Research Fellow, Research Fellow in different project such as "Forest Resources Survey, Valsad Division, Surat Circle, Gujarat" and "NTFP's of Gujarat with emphasis on potential and prospects of NTFP's of Dangs". He is a passionate writer who aspires to bring about change through the power of the pen and hence, blogging is his hobby. He wrote four books: "Ecology of Rare and Endangered Plant Species of Dang's Forest, Gujarat" (ISBN : 978-3-659-49850-3); "Eucalyptus Clones and Species Against Gall Insect on Morphology Basis" (ISBN : 978-3-8473-7455-8) and "Studies on Chracterization of Banan cv. Grand Naine" (ISBN : 978-3-659-52381-6). He has contributed a chapter title "Indigenous Knowledge of Wild Plant Species of South Gujarat" in "Ethnobotanical Studies in India" (ISBN: 978-93-80702-06-3). His achievements and awards are "National Talent Scholarship (NTS) through ICAR in july 2006 to june 2010; Junior Research Fellow (JRF) GUJCOST in April 2011 to March 2012 and "Best Poster Presentation" in the National workshop on Tree seed science and silviculture organized at the Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB) Coimbatore from 28th-29th Nov, 2013. He qualified the ASRB NET (ICAR) on Oct, 2013. He presented research paper in different Internation or national conference/seminar i.e total 19 (15 national and 4 international). His research papers has published in several national seminar proceeding, Symposium, Kerala Science Congress and Journal like "Nature Environment and Pollution Technology". (ISSN: 0972-6268)and "The BioScan" (ISSN: 0973-7049). Now he is working on "Optimization of Nutritional Regimes and understorey productivity in a four-year old Switenia macrophylla king based agri-silvicultural system and also project communicated "Reproductive Biology and Phenology of Tropical Tree Species -Tectona grandis, Terminalia arjuna and Steruclia urens". Submitted under SCI-TECH scheme of GUJCOST (Gujarat Council for Science & Technology) Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He believe That: "You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep spring from coming"-Pablo Neruda.
