About the Author

Elaine Cunningham has been writing about elves since Elfshadow, her first novel, was published by TSR in 1991. Since then she has written twenty-four novels, three dozen short stories, and a graphic novel. Elves appear in most of her Forgotten Realms stories, but her interest in the fey folk has taken her to other settings and into remote corners of real-world folklore. Her elves include the fun-loving bard in the EverQuest novel The Blood Red Harp, the disgraced vice cop in the Changeling Detective urban fantasy novels, the dreaded night elves of medieval Tuscany and the mischievous imps of Polish folklore. She is currently putting a new twist to high fantasy elves with Tales of Sevrin, a series of digital original novellas and novels.
Her work also includes fiction set in shared worlds such as Star Wars, Pathfinder Tales, Ravenloft, and Spelljammer. Her short fiction ranges from fantasy adventure to ghost stories, flash fiction, historical fiction, and mysteries. Most of these are available in the reprint collection Just Keeping Weaving.
When she’s not writing, Elaine is likely to be found working in her gardens, walking along the Narragansett Bay bike paths, playing her celtic harp, or singing with the Providence Singers, a chorus associated with the Rhode Island Philharmonic. She also writes the occasional bawdy ballad, and will sing them with very little provocation.
