Late in 1933, the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice brought suit against the
Merwil Publishing Company and its owner Harry Donnenfeld for producing obscene
periodicals. There were four magazine titles that the society found particularly offensive,
including Spicy Stories. After reading some of the magazines, the judge presiding over the
case agreed and sentenced Herbert M. Siegal, a clerk in Merwil's accounting department, to
pay a fine and spend some time in prison.
What magazine contents could be found so provocative, so offensive as to result in jail time?
Now you can find out for yourself with the SPICY STORIES TREASURY. Here are eight issues of
SPICY STORIES printed between 1933 and 1938. This book is definitely NSFW and there is
nudity.
