A Window into Yesterday: A Compilation of 27 Fiction Short Stories

These short stories are purely fictional. Although in some of these stories the plot bears a modicum of fact, it has been embellished significantly to generate more interest. The names of characters are fictional, and any resemblance to real characters is purely coincidental. The book is divided into categories with appropriate stories falling into each of the five categories. These categories include Animals, Lessons, Struggles, Faith, and Connections. Some of these experiences are derived from service in the military, some from teaching experiences, some from serving as a clergyman for many years.

About the Author

I, Mike Henry Tkachuk, was born and raised in a small village of Aumsville, in Manitoba, Canada. I attended high school at Major Pratt Collegiate in Russell, Manitoba. I studied at the University of Manitoba, Brandon University, and Ottawa University. I received the following degrees: BA., BEd, M.Ed, and a certificate in Eastern Christian Studies. I hold an Education Administrator's Level II certificate, and a province of Manitoba Teaching Certificate. After serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for four years, both in Canada and abroad with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, I was employed as a teacher/principal in the elementary and junior high grades. Since graduating from the Catholic Seminary in Ottawa, I have been employed as pastor of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Churches in Brandon and Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. I am married to my wife, Dolores. My first poetry book, Poetry, My Obsession, was published in 2011. Another book of poetry entitled Perspective Reflections in Rhyme was published in 2018.
