About the Author

Melisa is a 2nd grade teacher who has been in the classroom for over 20 years. She is a contributing author to several books, but this is her first children's book. She was Global Teacher of the Year in 2020. She also received the Hilliard Excellence award in 2019. Melisa is a Microsoft Flip, Night Zookeeper, Wakelet and Teach Better Ambassador as well as an Apple distinguished educator. She is passionate about inclusion, empowering every voice and sparking each child's love of learning. She is dedicated in creating fun and memorable experiences for her classroom family!


She is supported by her husband of 24 years and her 2 beautiful daughters, Madison and Abigail. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, walking their dog Shadow, playing softball and running.
