Description: This thorough and current book addresses a broad range of topics important to interventional radiologists as well as to those seeking a greater understanding of interventional procedures and techniques. The previous edition was published in 2006.
Purpose: This is intended to serve as a standard reference in interventional radiology, keeping up to date with relevant advances, techniques, and discoveries that have influenced this field of medicine. The authors achieved their goals, with 100 chapters on the most pertinent topics.
Audience: The book is directed at interventional radiologists, but because of the thorough review of oncology, vascular disease, and the medical, surgical and interventional techniques applicable to each disease process, this book would be a valuable resource for medical students as well as medicine and surgical residents.
Features: It covers current organ-based oncology, pathology, and vascular disease. It delves into the history, background basic science, and current medical, surgical, and interventional therapies for each area. The authors make good use of graphics and tables, demonstrating pertinent anatomy, techniques, radiological findings, and classifications.
Assessment: This is a thorough and high-quality book, and recommended as a go-to resource for interventional and vascular trainees. Given the rapidly changing face of medicine and the advances in interventional diagnostic and treatment modalities, the authors are justified in updating the previous edition, published nearly a decade ago. The book incorporates cutting-edge basic science and interventional practices about which all practitioners should be knowledgeable.
