The Internet and the World Wide Web are explained in the introductory chapter, as well as the various web browsers that can used, with an emphasis on on-line safety. Gaines presents an approach to structuring research on the web, as well as defining the concept of keywords, highlighting the utility of an “Idea Map,” and explaining the function of search engines. Key concepts such as “Copyright” and “Creating Web Pages” are set against a yellow background with black text.
