Purpose: It is intended to be used to study for the exams, but it should not be the sole source of review for preparation. As the authors note, it is to be used as a study guide to review topics commonly seen on the exams.
Audience: The audience is nurse practitioners preparing for the exams to obtain the family nurse practitioner or adult-gerontology practitioner certification. The authors include a nurse practitioner and two physicians.
Features: The book contains helpful exam tips as well as clinical tips to help in the diagnostics of the assessment. It is disappointing that the pictures of potential skin problems area in black and white. They would much more effective in color. There is no reference list for readers to delve further into clinical areas of concern or weakness.
Assessment: This book hits the highlights of the clinical areas, but is not the in-depth review that some students may need.
