Purpose: The purpose is to provide guidance to advanced practice nurses through the opportunities and challenges present in the current healthcare environment. The topics are not specific to a setting or a role, but rather developed to focus on advanced nursing practice standards and competencies that are being put forward by professional nursing organizations. The authors have done an excellent job in meeting their learning objectives.
Audience: The book is written for graduate nursing students attending either a master's or practice doctorate program focused on advanced practice nursing. The hope is that this resource will be a practical and useful guide that assists advanced practice nurses starting their new careers. The editors and contributors are experienced advanced practice nurses with valuable information to share with novice practitioners.
