CHAPTER 1

AUTUMN BEGINS

Such a beautiful morning thought Tannon Fortuna. He woke up to those familiar, wonderful sounds of country life.

The rooster crowing ... CACA-DOODLE-DO!!!

Tannon yawned, looked around at the beautiful colors of autumn ... Ah Yes! It's going to be another busy day on the farm.

His dog, Lukki, did a little stretch too, right there by his side. The nights were cooling off and the leaves were falling quickly. Nature at its finest, he thought. Tannon played a few notes on his harmonica, while Lukki rolled in the fallen leaves.

The crops were tended to and the fields were plowed.

Tannon worked hard the last few weeks bailing hay and getting ready for the winter. It would be here before you knew it, he thought, chewing on a toothpick.

He still had to ask himself if it was real. Did he dream it all? He could not believe he actually had his very own farm and the ORANGE BARNGE.

As the day progressed and he finished harvesting the EGGplants, he thought maybe it was time to plan some fun. Lukki started wagging his. He always knew his master was planning some fun. Arf Arf! The rest of the animals gathered around too. There they were; Squaredy Kat, Sam the Turkey, the three Purple Eggs, the three cows, Pink Lady, Brown Sugar and Mona Lena, the Indian Boy Tetto and his dog, Mocho, his helper, Jacob. All the animal sounds and EGGcitement was heard all over the place!!

"Hey everyone!", yelled Tannon. "Who wants to play baseball?" The Nutt Family heard about it and came out of their Shell! Tannon thought ... why don't we go to town and sell tickets? He hopped in his truck and the whole gang jumped in The Big Moo Moving Van© and went to town with him.

Here Ye Here Ye! EGGstra EGGstra!! Come and get your tickets! The game will be starting at 2 o'clock!

So that afternoon, the game was on!

The line-up was:

Chicken Caesar was the Empire ... oops! I mean Umpire! He is yelling out "Play ball!"

Cracked Egg was at first base; Devilled Egg ... second base, and Hardboiled Egg was at third base. Chicken Rap was catcher.

Squaredy Kat was up to bat. "Out of the park!" Marma Chick was up to bat next. "Strike one! Strike two! Chicken Caesar yells Strike three! You're out!" Marma Chick yells back! Foul Play! Foul Play!" They all had a turn playing and had a great time.

Suddenly, there was a strange sound! Neh Neh Neh!! It was coming from The Orange Barnge stable. It was Tannon's Horse Radish © trying to get out of the stall.

The farm animals are all looking at each other wondering what was going on. Sam the Turkey yelled, "What's wrong with you? What's all the racket? Were you born in a barn?" Oh wait, he thought. Yeh, you were! Laughter abounded. Horseradish was afraid of something. Wondering? The sound? It was the bees buzzing!!! They were just so tired and getting old, laying all over the horse's hay.

Tannon realized he had to do something for the old bees. So, he got out his Magic Hammer, and before he knew it, there it was. Whoosh! Like magic! A building was added at the Orange Barnge. A home for old bees. An ARKHIVE!!

All the animals were happy ... especially the chickens, so they started dancing. This was really POULTRY IN MOTION!

Just when things calmed down, he heard Marma Chick cackling again. She's in the Orange Barnge laying another egg; another Big Egg comes out and cracks open!! What's that!? A rabbit? Oh no! A Hare-in-the Egg!! Sam the Turkey is laughing hysterically. Just then a muttering sound came from a rock beside the building. It's a talking rock ... Rocky Talkie saying, "These eggs are really cracked!"

CHAPTER 2

COLUMBUS DAY AT THE ORANGE BARNGE

Another beautiful day at the ORANGE BARNGE. The autumn air was cooling things off quite a bit. It made Tannon's chores easier to bear, although he was always happy to take time off for relaxation at the end of the day.

He had heard a new neighbor bought a farm down the road a bit. He was just thinking about paying a visit, when he saw someone driving down his path. It was Mr. Ravioli, the new neighbor, stopping to invite him to his farm. He and his family wanted to meet a few of the neighbors, so they planned a party to celebrate. Of course, Tannon accepted graciously!

The day arrived for the new family's welcoming party. Tannon's dog, Lukki always knew his master's thoughts and sensed the EGGcitement! Arf! Arf! Tetto, and his dog Mocho, Squaredy Kat, Jacob, Sam the Turkey, Pink Lady, Mona Lena, Brown Sugar all chimed in with their happy sounds of joining in the fun. Tannon had to drive the Big Moo Moving Van to take the whole crew. He became even more EGGcited because he knew the NUTT family would be there!

So, off they go down the road and as they were getting closer, Tannon noticed something strange! The silo looked different....?? It was leaning a bit, so it was very easy to find. And now they could hear music too!!!

The Ravioli Family was from Italy, so it seemed only fitting to celebrate on Columbus Day!

Francesco Ravioli greeted them warmly and introduced the rest of the family. This is my wife, Sophia, and our three bambinos: Linguini, Ziti, and Pastina! Tannon was so engrossed in meeting everyone, but continued to stare at the "crooked" silo. Mr. Ravioli had a curly mustache and a great smile. He sensed Tannon's curiosity, and his eyes were aglow! He asked Tannon ..." you Lika' my silo? Ah! Yes!? I make it lika that and I call it my "LEANING TOWER OF PITZA!"©.

By now, the other guests had arrived so there was quite a bit of laughter! Fun and music abounded at the party. Tannon's EGGcitement was even greater when he saw the Nutt Family, especially Cocoa Nutt! Their eyes met and you could feel their joy and attraction to one another. Ah! Yes! Love! Amore! It was in the air!

Sophia began playing the accordion and food was everywhere! Fun, food, music and now dancing.!! She started playing "The Tarantella", so everyone got up and danced! Da, da, da, da, da!! But wait a minute! What's happening?

Besides all the guests dancing the tarantella, another group joined in the dancing! Tannon, Jacob, Cocoa Nutt, Walt Nutt, Hazel Nutt, the cows, chickens, dogs, Squaredy Kat, and everyone else looked at the spectacle!! Startled! Surprised!!! What was happening?

SPIDERS! Great big SPIDERS!!! TARANTULAS!!! Spiders were doing the tarantella!!! Ta-ta-ta-ta!!!

What a great party it turned out to be!!! An EGGceptional Columbus Day Celebration!

CHAPTER 3

HALLOWEEN

Things were back to normal at the ORANGE BARNGE.. All the EGGcitement at the Ravioli's party was enough to last a while. The weather was getting much cooler, but there were still the daily chores that had to be done. Tannon warmed up by the fire every morning and started the day playing a happy tune on his harmonica. Lukki was barking away. Those beautiful sounds made everything seem joyful. Tweet, the birds sang, gobble, gobble as Sam the Turkey chimed in. Meow, meow, said Squaredy Kat. Marma Chick and all the chickens were cackling away!!! The rooster was crowing ... Ca Ca Doodle Do!!!

As time went by, Tannon realized Halloween was not that far away. There he was, chewing on a toothpick and thinking surely it would be fun to have a Halloween party at THE ORANGE BARNGE!

Lukki was wagging his tail with EGGcitement! He always knew what his master was up to. Arf! Arf! His sound of approval!

THE ORANGE BARNGE would be perfect to decorate. He wouldn't even have to add on to it. His Magic Hammer was sitting at his work bench with the Shiny Magic soil on it. It would be easy to add any 'special effects'!

Just then he thought! Wow! The Secret Passage would be a perfect spot to decorate and add a SPOOKTACKULAR advantage to the event!

Without hesitation, everyone gathered around feeling happy about the upcoming event. There they all were: Tannon, Lukki, Squaredy Kat, Tetto, Mocho, Marma, The Three Purple Eggs, Sam the Turkey, all the animals. Sam was really EGGcited, spreading his wings and doing a real turkey trot!

Tannon asked everyone if they would like it to have a costume party?! ROCKIE TALKIE, the big rock on the side of THE ORANGE BARNGE, began to think out loud! MOANING "OH NO!" "Are they crazy?"!!!!!!!!

Even Tannon's HORSE, RADISH © was getting EGGcited and was kicking at his stable door.

Now the questions arose? What characters would they be? Wondering!!! What costumes would they wear?

Marma Chick was thinking about what she would dress up as? Ah ha!! I know! I will be a super hero! All I would need is a cape and I could fly! I will be Captain Capon, a super hero!!!

Jacob decided he would wear a tuxedo and be The Butler!

Tannon thought and thought wondering? He decided to be an old cow hand. He would wear a beard and a big straw hat ... and chew on a toothpick! Of course!!!

Really?? thought Talkie Rockie!

Tetto said "I know! I'll be an Indian!" Oh wait! I am an Indian! He thought some more. I got it! I'll be a Scarecrow and Mocho could dress up like Indian corn!

But wait a minute! Lukki is wagging his tail and barking like saying ... What about me? Tannon thought!! I know! I have a great idea! I'll put big ORANGE lips and ORANGE feet on you so you look like a DUCK! You'll be Lukki the Ducky! Sam the Turkey said; "Looks like a duck! Looks like a duck!" Everyone was laughing!

Meanwhile, The Three Purple Eggs are up in the hay loft planning their strategy for the masquerade ... mmm?? Let's see. Finally, after huddling in their nest, they came up with an idea! They were EGGstatic! One Egg said 'I'll be a Cracked Egg! Another said "I'll be Hard Boiled!" And the third one said, "I'll be Scrambled"! No! Nah! How about Devilled?! Once again Talkie Rockie moaned.

Sam the Turkey ran around in circles wondering what he would be!? Then, suddenly, it hit him!!! Not an idea! Something hit him and knocked him out! Bo-o-oing!!! By the time he woke up, it was nightfall. A full moon appeared, and, like a light bulb went on, it hit him!! No!! Nothing hit him again! He got so EGGcited!!! I know! I know! I am going as The Count. All I will need is a black cape and fangs. Great!!

Finally, the day arrived! The ORANGE BARNGE was all decorated. Tannon and his Magic Hammer made the task pretty easy!!

It was really spooky looking with candles glowing in the dark, ghosts hanging from the ceiling, huge spider webs all around! It looked like an old haunted castle! The weather even cooperated. Thunder, lightening!! BOO!!!! Scary looking!!

Then, as the guests were arriving, the moon came out shining brightly.

Alas, The Count arrived wearing fangs and a Spanish accent. He was EGGceptional! He even told a joke: What do you call a dance The Count does in Spain? And the crowd said "We don't know?" And with his true- to- form long cape and fangs, he answered: "THE FANGO"!! The Ghosts are saying BOO!!!

Who do we see now? It's The Wicked Witch Hazel Nutt!! HAG! HAG!! She made that screeching laugh!!

Suddenly, a bolt of thunder adds to the horror and a strange sound comes from the outside. Caw! Caw!! What's that? Everyone asks?? Someone said, "Don't be afraid!". It's just Clare, The Loon © baying at the moon!

By now the Indian drums are beating, the music begins, and now the spiders gather round and dance to the tango!

Once again Talkie Rockie moans!! Quite the EGGStravaganza!

CHAPTER 4

THANKSGIVING

The leaves are almost all fallen and the ground is covered with the glorious colors of yellow, orange, brown and red. The ORANGE BARNGE looks so beautiful with the glowing sun shining on it.

Tannon was reminded of how his wishes had come true. Owning his farm and working hard were all part of a normal day for him. The EGGcitement of it all kept beating in heart. That and the thought that Thanksgiving would soon be here! That meant planning a feast. He certainly had enough pumpkins to start making pies. Cocoa Nutt told him she would be happy to help him bake.

As happy as Tannon was, that's how sad Sam the Turkey was. He was always so sarcastic to everyone, but lately he was down in the dumps. Oh dear! What could be the problem? Sam thought about talking to a good friend, Ellyphant© the psychiatrist in town.

So off he goes to see her. She welcomed him. "Sam, sit down!" Elly said. "What's troubling you Sam? Tell me! I'm all EARS! She throws her head back and her trunk almost threw him off his chair! Squaredy Kat went with him. It was a good thing, because Sam needed him. Elly was laughing so hard. Of course, Squaredy Kat couldn't resist saying "Elephant in the room!" Things got serious and Ellyphant was reading Sam's tea leaves and shaking her head. "Not good! Not good!" You have to go in hiding. Thanksgiving is coming.! Turkey for din-din! Bad! Very bad! Screech! Sam was running circles. Yikes! Gotta' go! Gotta' go!

He gets back to The Orange Barnge and sneaks up to the rafters in the hay loft. It's panic button time! What to do? What to do? "I know! He thought!" I'll pluck all of my feathers!" Just then the Three Eggs saw him and asked what he was doing. Sam yells to the Three Eggs, "BEAT IT, BEAT IT"!!!

After he plucked all his feathers, he snuck down to the Secret Passage. He was ca-ca-cold!! Fortunately Tetto, the Indian boy, saw him and knew why he was hiding, so he helped keep him warm with a nice Indian blanket.

Everyone is wondering what happened to Sam the Turkey. Tannon said, "I guess he flew the coop"! It wasn't like him to be funny, but he was planning more than a Thanksgiving dinner. Earlier that day, he went to town to buy a ring. He invited the Nutt Family to dinner and planned on proposing to Cocoa that evening.

Thanksgiving arrived, and dinner was served. After everyone had pumpkin

pie for dessert, Tannon got down on one knee and asked Cocoa to be his wife. Ahh!!!

Everyone was so happy for the young couple. Even Squaredy Kat was doing a happy dance. He said "PURRRfect!"

So, a winter wedding was planned at THE ORANGE BARNGE!

CHAPTER 5

CHRISTMAS

It is getting really cold. Marma Chick and her chickens are freezing in the chicken coop. Brrrr ... Cluck cluck!!! Marma Chick thought mmm! Maybe we can go warm up by the hot tub!!

Are you CRAZY screeched Sam the Turkey?!! Didn't you ever hear of chicken soup? YIKES! He's right!

Meanwhile, Tannon is so happy and EGGcited about planning his wedding at The Orange Barnge. Cocoa Nutt is all aglow with the Holiday Season and the big event coming up on Christmas Eve.

A lush fire is burning in the living room and fresh greens from the farm lay beautifully on the stone mantle full of ornaments and big red bows. The aroma of cinnamon buns in the oven makes it a picture perfect combination of love and warmth.

The Nutt family is there also to help Tannon and Cocoa with the details of the

upcoming wedding. Walt Nutt and Hazel Nutt are taking a break and warming up by the fire. They decided to relax and play CHESS. Truly CHESS NUTTS!! And. ... they are roasting CHESTNUTS too!!

Some of Tannon's relatives were coming in for the wedding. His Aunt Herti-Gerti and her sister Antie Freez arrived a week ahead. Hert-Gerti was always laughing! And Antie Freez was always cold!! Freezing!!!

To add to the joy of the holiday and the wedding coming up, a Christmas Parade was coming through town. It will include some animals from the zoo. Yippee!!! Well, we can't miss that thought Tannon!! All the animals chimed in with their EGGciting sounds. Arf-arf! Purr-purr! Caca Doodle do!! Even Tannon's Horse Radish was kicking up his heels!!

The day arrived for the parade! The Nutts brought their dog, Peppermint Bark©. She's red and white! Cute little thing! "Yip! Yip", she squealed! Tannon and Lukki are all decked out and ready.

HORSERADISH is really EGGcited and proud of his get-up. He wore a beautiful leather saddle and collar adorned with bells and candy canes for the children! Hee Hee!!! Kicking up his heels and wagging his tail! Tetto dressed up as Santa Clause and Mocho was his Elf!! So the whole crew from The Orange Barnge hopped in The Big Moo Mooving Van and went to the parade. Whoo-Wee!!!

And so the parade began ... The children loved riding HORSERADISH!! Great fun! And everyone was looking at a heard of Zebras! Of course, Sam the Turkey said; "They all look alike to me!" But look at what was coming down the street next! Big fuzzy ORANGE ORANGS!!!! Wow!! Pandas marched by and giraffes too! Then came a band made up of Indians dressed beautifully with long feathered headwear and beating on their drums!!! Fabulous!
