About the Author

David J. Terestre is a retired patrol sergeant with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. He is a nationally published writer on policing issues in publications such as Police Magazine and American Police Beat. His Master’s degree thesis, “Age Differences in Face Recall,” was published by Harvard University in 1998. He frequently writes and contributes to the Washington Examiner Op-Ed Section on district policing and public safety issues. Additionally, he is a Phillip N. Turluck Center for Leadership Academy Fellow with The Heritage Foundation, a constitutionally conservative public policy and research think-tank in Washington, D.C. David lives in suburban Maryland with his wife and son. When he isn’t writing, his family raises and trains service dogs for Thin Line Service Dogs, an organization that provides first responders and military veterans with life-changing service dogs.
