Aerebelle
In the distance, from her perch in the tree, she could see that there were shadows running across the grass; their shadows. Inhale. The trees were no place for her now, jumping to the ground Everae turned to run, diving under branches and vaulting over logs as she inhaled the late summer, early autumn air, and kept running. The leaves had begun to change, and the sunlight dappled her hair and skin in hunter greens, brilliant gold's, and fiery oranges. Exhale. She could hear the calls getting closer. The sound of paws the size of hands and wolves the size of bears thundering toward her like one living, breathing, mass. They moved in unison; darting in and out of the trees like sunlight through the canopy. Inhale. Her heart was shattering its bony prison attempting escape. Exhale. The woman chanced a glance behind her. They were closing the gap between them. Just a little further to the edge of a clearing. Inhale. She was fast; they were faster. Their breath collected on her like a fine mist. Flecks of spittle landed on her legs. Exhale. She could feel them sapping at her heels like wolves. This shouldn't have surprised her, they were wolves after all. Inhale.
