About the Author

Turry Flucker and Phoenix Savage have collaborated on a number of projects, bringing together historic presentations of Jackson, Mississippi. Flucker is the former curator of the Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center, having served in that capacity for 10 years. Currently Flucker, a graduate of Tougaloo College, is an independent curator and museum consultant. Phoenix Savage is an anthropologist who has conducted extensive research regarding African Americans of Mississippi. A graduate of Mississippi Valley State University and the University of Mississippi, she divides her time between research projects and building her career as a sculptor.
