Overview

The end of the Civil War brought a fundamental change to our country. Most of our settled areas were in for years of struggle in hopes of fixing something that seemed at one time to be unbreakable. A hopeless pall descended on our nation. However, this great land had a strong resource left open to it. That outlet was the western lands. People flooded west in great numbers. This story is the tale of only a few of those stouthearted persons. As long as our nation is able to breed those kind of people, we will never fail' and America will stand as a beacon of light leading free people everywhere.
