With more than 200 pictures, the story honors the early pioneers who in 1807 permanently settled on forested land once inhabited by the Seneca Nation. It focuses on not only education--always highly valued, as evidenced in the three institutions of higher learning here--but also on the people, businesses, farms, and civic organizations that have enriched the town for 200 years.

About the Author

Local resident Laurie Lounsberry McFadden serves as the president of Baker's Bridge Historical Association of Alfred Station and is a member of the Alfred Historical Society. A librarian and archivist at Alfred University, she has authored many history-related articles. Using images from private collections and local historical repositories, she has created Alfred and Alfred Station to help commemorate the town of Alfred's bicentennial.
