Overview

Many people understand that at the end of all things, when Christ returns, God will create a new heaven and a new earth where those who have trusted in Christ will live with him forever. But what about those who have “passed on” well before this? Where are they now? What does heaven look like? What will occupy us there? When David Oliver faced the death of his son Joel, at the age of thirty-eight, following a short and brutal fight with cancer, he set about researching and writing this powerful short book on heaven and committed to write whatever he discovered. Through a thorough examination of the relevant Bible texts, David provides us with a thrilling view of the future and a destiny well worth preparing for, which will enrich both our vision and our faith.

Without exception every human being faces the inevitability of death.
Remarkably very few ever properly prepare for it, nor understand what happens after it!
My dear friend and co-worker David Oliver and his family recently faced the incredibly painful loss of a beloved son Joel.
They had hope in Christ.
They had an eternal perspective but where was Joel and just what was he doing now?
This exciting book answers ,Biblically, so many questions people have about their loved ones, their destination and their future. It’s a must read for us all, birthed out of deep mourning , ultimately to be experienced by all of us and then the ensuing search for understanding.
I highly recommend it.

Perhaps one of the most difficult experiences in life to process is the death of a loved one. As believers we are far from immune to the pain and grief involved. When the death is of a grown up son who leaves behind his young family, well, the trauma is difficult to describe.
In late 2018, David Oliver's son, Joel was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of cancer and after only 17 days his earthly life ended. As a published author, David found that one of the ways of processing this terrible loss was to research and write the book "All About Heaven". You will find it to be an honest, raw account of what happened over this short space of time, but also the book grapples with our understanding of what happens to someone who dies as a believer. There is a lot of folklore and caricatures among Christians about the nature and reality of Heaven; David deals with much of the biblical material in trying to describe what he calls 'the present Heaven' is about, calling it a 'stopping off place' which is fantastic in itself, but also that there is an ultimate destination ahead when King Jesus ushers in a New Heaven and a New Earth.
All About Heaven" will both move you deeply, but will also leave you scripturally informed about eternity and pastorally helped in the process of dealing with grief and loss. There are not many popular books available which deal with this reality; this one will be a great help to anyone who is unclear about how to walk through what is often a valley of deep darkness.

David Oliver’s story of painful loss has caused him to dig deeper into an understanding of heaven....both as an eternal reality and as a present ‘home’.
‘All About Heaven’ gives an excellent overview from scripture of how heaven is described in scripture. He recounts some inspiring personal testimonies from near death-experiences, and gives us a clearer of view of what “present heaven” is like.
Dave brings clarity and insight to help us gain confidence in our eternal destiny.
This is a very timely resource for all Christians.

Like so many of you: I have many friends and relatives who have “gone on to heaven.” And while my belief in the eternity we will spend with God is solid, my understanding of what heaven was really like was weak. That is why I ordered multiple copies of David Oliver’s book, “All About Heaven.” This is a powerful, useful, encouraging, and comforting resource for both those who experience grief, and for those who minister to the ones who are impacted by the death of a loved one."

This compelling & inspiring read looks at many biblical texts and provides us with a thrilling view of the future, a destiny well worth preparing for and looking forward to, which will enrich our vision and faith. I highly commend it, because I think we have seen all too little written on this subject, which is our glorious future!

The deepest question in life is ‘What happens when I die?’ and yet there are few books today that grapple with that issue. I am grateful for All About Heaven - it lifts my eyes, heart and mind to another world – more real than this one.
